'Unapologetically leading the shift to push the UNLEARNING of suppressive traditions and
beliefs that continue to cause infinite harm to our transgender communities.'
To disrupt the systems that marginalize, shame, silence and illigitemize the lives of trans youth, especially in our Black and Brown communities..
This proud, Black mother of 4 young men has given almost 3 decades of service as an educator/administrator in K-college classrooms. After enduring the pain in witnessing her prepubescent, transgender son be targeted relentlessly by colleagues, students and family - and frustrated by the lack of representation of true Black and Brown trans experiences in literature, nadeen not only founded her own consulting entity, blaq noyz, LLC, in 2021, she also published the first children's book in her series, Life: According to Z, an autobiographical account of the trauma and triumph her son has experienced since introducing himself to her between the ages of 6 and 7. Challenged by the lack of safe spaces for gender diverse children in schools, varied public domains and in their own homes, nadeen walked away from her career in 2022 to instead fight for the rights, visibility, respect - thus "righting the wrongs" - for transgender youth.
"The Gender & Sexuality Development Program at CHOP has been excited to partner with nadeen on multiple trainings for local school districts around supporting transgender and gender expansive students. The passion and professionalism that she brings to each training makes learning about tough topics easy and digestible. It is truly an honor to work alongside her."
